Please, read below project proposal and submission criterias:

“Meet me at Sunset”

Art project and exhibition intended to take place part of the Independents Biennial, Liverpool '08,

during 18th October-30th November 2008

Concept, objectives, venue and requests

Featuring artwork from Romanian artists based in UK, Liverpool and UK based and International artists.

Welcomed artforms: photography, video art, performance art, installation, mixed media, abstract painting.
Curator Nicole Bartos, Gallery4allarts.

Please, see requests for submission below.

“Meet me at Sunset” – suggestions or emphasis ‘list’:
- meeting with the unknown;
- metaphysical moment / time;
- meditation;
- myth and mythology of the sun or sunset;
- inner journey towards light;
- unconditional love;
- the link with the divine;
- art as a healing power;
- love and romance;
- day meeting night,
- light meeting darkness, etc.… endless inspirations to look forward to.

“Meet me at Sunset” - Main objectives:
• explore the metaphoric topic “Meet me at Sunset”, from a artistic and metaphysical point of view
• Open an art exhibition, presenting a variety of art forms such as: photography, video art, mixed-media, installation, land art, performance art and painting.
• Promote and showcase international and Liverpool based artists together with Romanian artists living in UK *
• Achieve cultural diversity, networking and exchange between Liverpool based artists and Romanian artists from UK.

Selected artists are also invited, prior to the final show (18th Oct - 30th Nov 2008), to become part of a series of successive meetings (3-5 times during late August early September, in various places around Liverpool (e.g. Princes Park, Sefton Park, Otterspool Riverside, etc.) (Hoping that a good sunset sky may be viewed) and always around the ‘magical’ sunset hour. More details remain to be established and confirmed.

The purpose of these active meetings is to induce inspiration mostly for future work, hold short performance art activities that would come in response to topic and will help towards the creation of some of the final art works for the exhibition (film, photography, etc.).
The whole process, viewed / recorded as a journey, intends to take place through a meditative and spontaneous approach in direct relation to circumstances and places where it will happen. (Liverpool)

During these meetings, short ‘performance art’ in various shapes, collaborative art work, land art installations, etc., may take place and artists are encouraged to record, store, develop sequences from each meeting, aiming towards a final work completion. Audience will be allowed and welcomed though will be not at all compulsory to these meetings.

* ( More Romanian culture will be promoted through a series of other events following up in Liverpool during October-November ’08, including art, talks and theatre; see more details through the Gallery4allarts newsletter).

The project will conclude with a final art exhibition.
Private view: Saturday 18th of October, 5pm-9pm
Closing event: Saturday 30th of November, 5pm-9pm. More details remain to be established.

Venue hosting the art exhibition - see map:
Ullet Grange,
36 Ullet Road,
Liverpool, L17 3BP,
Merseyside, UK.
