March 9 is “39 Art Day (Thank You Art Day)”!
~ Date & locations: Friday, March 9th at various venues ~

“ 39 Art Day” (Thank You Art Day) is a special day to appreciate, promote, and positively engage ourselves in contemporary art worldwide.
Artinliverpool.com is happy to announce that our Liverpool art community is now part of the clan celebrating 39 Art Day on Friday March 9th 2007!
A number of art galleries/spaces, as well as individual artists and internet-based entities around the globe are offering special tie-in events on March 9. The aim is for people to enjoy a gallery-crawl, just like ‘Rundgang’ (= to go around, to circuit) in Germany. Participants are from Japan, Germany, US, Hong Kong and Netherlands. Liverpool is the first UK city to join in this year.

On Friday March 9th, various art galleries and artists in Liverpool are giving you special offers or events such as discount on artworks & goods, free gifts or welcome refreshment upon arrival, online performance and lucky draw etc. Confirmed art venues and arts groups include Artinliverpool.com, Almiro Gallery, Artfinder’s Gallery, Bluecoat Display Centre, The Bridewell, Cornerstone Gallery, Dot-art, Editions, Open Eye Gallery, The People’s Centre, View Two Gallery, 11 Wolstenholme Sq, Alice in Wonderland Jewellery, The Quarter, Collage, Transvoyeur, Gallery4allarts and more to come.
Ian Jackson, Director of artinliverpool.com, says “We are absolutely delighted with the great response from the Liverpool art community. We only decided last week to do this and thought it would be fairly low-key for this first year but everyone we spoke to is so enthusiastic. We will earn from this year’s event and plan a much bigger one for 2008”

Why is 39 Art Day on March 9 ?
39 Art Day (www.39art.com) was initiated by a Germany-based Japanese artist Yoshiaki Kaihatsu ( www.yoshiakikaihatsu.com ) in 2000 to foster the appreciation of contemporary art in Japan, the country where support for contemporary art is still weak at best, if not altogether absent.
In Japanese, "thank you" rhymes with 3/9 (san-kyuu), because there is no "th" sound in Japanese and the Japanese people tend to pronounce "th" as "s." Thus, 39 Art Day is on March 9th. Learn more about 39 Art Day: Official website www.39art.com
