Why not join in and help to write 2D “Merry Christmas” on the walls of Gallery4allarts, on Lark Lane, decorate an indoors 3D Christmas tree sculptural installation and pack walls with your miniature artworks by creating and submitting 1-15 miniature size artworks by latest 5th December 2009.

For a better understanding and artistic performance related to this miniature exhibition Gallery4allarts is preparing for, I would like to ask those who (whether they are coming from a professional art background or not), are willing to submitting work, to read the notes and extracts mentioned below regarding the “miniature” painting and art in general and the origins of the “miniature” term itself.

“The term "miniature", as it addresses miniature painting, is often confused with "miniaturize" and some miniature art exhibitions do not refer to miniature as it's initial meaning of techniques, but rather the size of the painting (miniaturized painting). They are two very separate descriptions. (extract from article: “Miniature Painting - A Brief History of the Art of Miniature”, an article by: Rebecca Latham).
This particular exhibition and competition, open to everyone, is willing to focus and refer to “miniature” art and limit the size of the artwork submitted. The biggest dimensions should not exceed 12cm x 18cm. All mediums are welcome.
A randomly selected jury panel will be asked to judge upon various factors such as: ideas, talent, innovation (technique wise and uniqueness) and quality of work, technique. Curator of this show and competition is artist Nicole Bartos representing Gallery4allarts.

Exhibition will open on the 11 December 2009 and will end on the 30 January 2010.

Please, read extract from "A brief History of the Art of Miniature" by Rebecca Latham.
