Intro Nathan Pendlebury
Nathan Pendlebury based in Liverpool, studied Fine Art at Warrington Collegiate Institute (where he won the student KM Herring award in 1992), and also at Liverpool John Moores University. He grew up in the North-West of England in Chester, Salford, Manchester, and Warrington. Currently he works full-time for National Museums Liverpool in Liverpool City Centre. His artwork influenced by artists such as Kline, de Kooning, Tapies, Blake, Hockney (as well as various contemporary urban and 1960's retro imagery), relates “to the presence of man within urban environment producing associations without being direct in representational or figurative terms. I like to use a variety of materials, such as charcoal, graphite, ink, acrylic and aerosol paint.” (The artist) Nathan also produces abstract photographic work since 1992. “I try to approach them as I do my paintings, in both subject matter and image construction." Since his early achievements in 1992, when nominated for 'BTEC Student of the Year' being one of 500 nominees out of possible 215,000, and followed by a 'KM Herring Award' in 1993, by Warrington Collegiate Institute, Nathan Pendlebury, has been exhibiting his work in many group and solo exhibitions, mainly in the North West England. Most recently he was the winner joint 'Third Prize' at '3rd Wirral Open' exhibition, at Williamson Art Gallery.
