Notes about the artworks and exhibition:
Selected paintings, collages and mixed media and drawings with vibrant chromatic and abstract content depicting dream like flights and wonders into the realm and expressions of energy flow, mind and soul, as well as some captions from nature and city scapes as one walks by.

intriguing body of work that captivates the viewer
through its reflections into a general analysis
of abstract and creative expressions, resuming
to vibrations that rise from innermost subconscious
and are depicted spontaneously, against curtains
of music and sound perceived as colour.
Looking down or up into a crown of highlights from the subconscious meridian,
while ‘lifting up’ or ‘discrediting apprehension and abstract ‘quotations’ from
the back of the mind, stand out like coruscating fusions and perceptions, the
abstract recognitions of spiritual spaces and inner worlds.
Alloys of expressive energies, sometimes almost in a mathematical and geometrical
tracing, give birth to strong and lively chromatic compositions and combinations
imbued with musical rhythms, voice and poetry.” (Text

Phil Jeck with Merseyside Improvisers Orchestra

Overview
For this concert, part of a new collaboration between Liverpool-based multimedia composer and turntablist Philip Jeck, and The Merseyside Improvisers Orchestra, Jeck's manipulated vinyl soundscapes will be mixed with the sounds of the live ensemble.
Philip Jeck has created a truly original sound of other worldly looped drones and pulsating rhythms. His largest work Vinyl Requiem, made with Lol Sargent, was for 180 record-players, 9 slide-projectors and 2 16mm movie-projectors and received a Time Out Performance Award.
Jeck studied visual arts at Dartington College of Arts in the 1970s and has been creating sound with record-players since the early 80’s. He has worked with many dance and theatre companies and played with musicians /composers such as Jah Wobble, Steve Lacy, Gavin Bryars, Jaki Liebezeit, David Sylvian, Sidsel Endresen and Bernhard Lang. He has released 12 solo albums, the most recent Iklectik, a live recording on the Touch label. Suite, a vinyl only release, won a Distinction at The Prix Ars Electronica, and a cassette only release on Tapeworm, Spool, was performed only on bass guitar. His CD Sand (2008) was 2nd in The Wire’s top 50 of the year. Vinyl Coda I-III, a commission from Bavarian Radio in 1999 won the Karl Sczuka Foderpreis for Radio Art.
In 2009 he received The Paul Hamlyn Composers award. He has also toured in an Opera North production playing live to the silent movie Pandora’s Box (composed by Hildur Gudnadottir and Johann Johannson). He has also worked again with Gavin Bryars on a composition Pneuma for a ballet choreographed by Carolyn Carlson for The Opera de Bordeaux and has recently made and performed the sound for The Ballad of Ray & Julie at the Everyman Theatre, Liverpool.

display in the distinct historical Blackburne
House, an exhibition of an airy and captivating
body of work dealing with abstract, ‘onirique’ (dream)
themes awakened by poetry, music and contemplation
upon the little moments of ‘passing nostalgia’ of
imagination and dreams and, presented under a
diversity of media languages such as mixed media,
painting and drawings by Nicole Bartos, local
artist and curator representing Gallery4allarts,
in Liverpool.
Bartos, has lived and created locally since 1998, and has achieved forming
and cumulating great lasting friendships within the creative realms of art
and art performance, having had the wonderful opportunities of meeting and
collaborating with alike folks, creative personas, based in Liverpool, UK and
internationally, such as poets, writers, musicians, live art performers.
Distilling an atmosphere of peaceful art contemplation, the artworks imbue
the welcoming venue with a touch of spiritually condensed sensitivity and a
lightness of focus in ones poetic release.

In this exhibition, the artist, Nicole Bartos, aimed to incorporate a selection of works that helped to create a contemplative montage which would allow a virtual transformation of the space as well as the viewer’s perception and one’s vibrations. Large and small canvases in various media, expressing energy flow, contemplation and a state of quiet music sound in an ethereal space and vibrating a colourful and free pulse.
Artwork selections from cycles such as: Rhythms (2004), Capturing Threads of Light (2010- 2012), and recent oil paintings (2016-2017).
